Production Process and Environmental Protection Guidelines for PE Garbage Bags

2025-08-12

Polyethylene (PE), as the main raw material for Garbage Bags, its quality directly affects the product performance. During production, it is necessary to select PE with different densities according to the intended use of the garbage bags, such as household, commercial or industrial use. For example, daily household garbage bags mostly use low-density polyethylene (LDPE), which is flexible, easy to shape and moderately priced.

1. Selection of Raw Materials: Laying the Foundation for Quality

while commercial garbage bags used to carry heavy garbage often choose high-density polyethylene (HDPE), which has high strength and excellent puncture resistance. After selecting the raw materials, it is also necessary to strictly control the impurity content and ensure uniform particles, so as to provide a high-quality foundation for subsequent processing and ensure that the produced garbage bags have good toughness, waterproofness and durability.

2. Multi-Step Processing: Creating Qualified Products

After the raw materials are ready, they enter a complex processing flow. The first step is the extrusion process. PE particles are fed into the extruder, melted at high temperature (usually 160℃ - 250℃), and then pushed by the screw to be extruded through a specific mold to form a tubular blank. Immediately following is the film blowing process. Compressed air is used to inflate the tubular blank into a film, and at the same time, the temperature and blow-up ratio are controlled to adjust the thickness and uniformity of the film. Then, according to the design requirements, patterns, texts and other information are printed on the film by means of gravure printing, flexographic printing, etc. After printing, the film is cut into the predetermined size with a bag cutting machine, and the bag mouth is sealed by heat sealing or ultrasonic welding technology to make finished garbage bags. Each step of the operation requires precise control of parameters to ensure that the product quality meets the standards.

3. Strict Quality Control: Ensuring User Experience

Quality inspection runs through the entire production process. When raw materials enter the factory, indicators such as density and melt flow rate need to be tested to ensure they meet the standards. During production, key parameters such as film blowing thickness and printing clarity are monitored in real time, and equipment is adjusted in a timely manner. At the finished product stage, samples are taken to check the tensile strength, puncture resistance and sealing performance of the garbage bags. For example, the tensile strength is tested by simulating filling with heavy objects and lifting; the puncture resistance is evaluated by piercing with sharp objects; and the water injection test is used to detect the sealing effect. Only garbage bags that pass all-round and strict inspections are allowed to enter the market to provide consumers with a reliable user experience.

4. Environmental Protection Actions: Reducing Pollution Impact

Although PE garbage bags bring convenience to life, they also face environmental challenges. From the production end, enterprises can optimize the process to improve the utilization rate of raw materials and reduce the generation of leftover materials. For example, advanced co-extrusion technology is adopted to form a multi-layer structure in one step, which reduces raw material consumption while ensuring performance. In the use stage, consumers are advocated to use them rationally to avoid excessive packaging and waste. Used garbage bags should be properly classified and recycled, and after professional treatment, they can be remade into plastic products to realize resource recycling. In addition, the research and development of degradable PE materials is also a trend. Such materials can decompose in the natural environment within a certain period of time, greatly reducing pollution to soil and water bodies.

5. Future Outlook: Moving Towards Green Production

Looking forward to the future, the PE garbage bag industry will develop in a more environmentally friendly and efficient direction. On the one hand, new production equipment and processes are constantly emerging, which are expected to further improve production efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and at the same time enhance the stability of product quality. On the other hand, with increasingly strict environmental protection regulations and enhanced public environmental awareness, the market share of degradable PE garbage bags will gradually expand. Enterprises need to increase research and development investment to overcome the problems of performance and cost of degradable materials and realize large-scale production. In addition, strengthening cooperation with upstream and downstream industries to build a more complete recycling system will promote the green transformation of the entire life cycle of PE garbage bags, so that convenience and environmental protection can be balanced, contributing to the sustainable development of the earth's home.
